FAQs

Choosing a light

How do I choose the best lighting for my space?

Start with what the room is actually for, then look at its size, ceiling height and how much daylight it already gets. From there you can narrow things down to a short list that still works together across the whole home.

A rough rule for a main pendant: add the room's width and length in metres, then use that number in inches as a starting diameter. Layer a softer light nearby so the room is never lit from one point alone.

Our lighting guide goes through this in more detail.

How high should I hang a pendant?

Over a dining table or island, aim for roughly 75 to 90cm between the bottom of the shade and the surface. In an open walkway, keep the bottom of the shade above head height, around 2.1m from the floor.

Most pendants in the range have an adjustable cord or rod, so you have room to fine tune once it is up.

What size wall light suits a bedside?

Mount the light so the bottom of the shade sits a little above shoulder height when you are sitting up in bed, usually 90cm to 1.1m above the mattress. An adjustable or rotating arm is worth it if you read in bed.

Can I see a piece before I buy?

We are an online studio, so there is no showroom to visit. What we can do is talk it through with you. If you are stuck between two options or unsure about scale, get in touch before you order.

Product and installation

Do you have energy efficient lighting?

Yes. A large part of the range is LED, which draws far less power and lasts a great deal longer than a traditional globe, so it costs less to run and you replace it far less often. Each product page lists the lamp type and wattage so you can compare.

Are your lights dimmable?

Many are, but it depends on the driver in that particular piece and on the dimmer already in your wall. The specification on each product page says whether that light is dimmable. If dimming matters to you, check with your electrician before you order.

Do I need an electrician?

For anything hard wired, yes. In Australia, fixed wiring work must be done by a licensed electrician. Plug in and rechargeable pieces are the exception and need no wiring at all.

Do the lights come with globes?

Integrated LED pieces have the light source built in, so there is nothing to buy. Pieces that take a separate globe generally do not include one, and the product page lists the fitting type so you know what to get.

Will it work with Australian power?

Yes. Where a piece is offered in multiple voltages, select the option suited to Australian mains before you add it to your cart.

Ordering and delivery

How long will my order take?

Every order is dispatched within one to three business days. After that, delivery to Australia and New Zealand usually runs 12 to 25 business days. Times for other regions are listed on every product page and in our shipping policy.

Why does delivery take longer than other stores?

We ship direct from our makers rather than holding stock in a local warehouse. That keeps the range wide and the prices honest, and the trade off is that a piece takes longer to reach you than something sitting in a depot nearby.

Do I get tracking?

Yes. A tracking link is emailed to you the moment your order leaves.

Do you ship outside Australia?

Yes, we ship worldwide. Delivery times by region are on every product page.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Yes, within 24 hours of placing it and provided it has not already been dispatched. Contact us with your order number as soon as you can. Once an order has left our supplier we cannot recall it.

Returns

What if it does not look right once it arrives?

We do not accept change of mind returns, so it is worth getting this right before you order. Check the measurements on the product page against your space, and if you are unsure about scale, wattage or how a piece will sit, ask us first. Most surprises come down to scale rather than style.

In limited cases we may agree to take a piece back at our discretion, if you contact us within 14 days of delivery and it is unused, uninstalled and in its original packaging. A restocking fee applies and the balance is issued as store credit rather than a cash refund. The full detail is in our returns policy.

Do I have to send it back?

Nothing should be sent back before we have approved it in writing. If we agree to a discretionary return we will confirm the return address at that point, and you cover the return postage.

Where a piece is faulty, damaged in transit or not what you ordered, we cover the return postage.

What if it arrives damaged or faulty?

Send us a photo through the contact page as soon as you can, ideally within 48 hours, and do not install it. We will arrange a repair, replacement or refund. You are covered by the Australian Consumer Law, which sits above anything written here.

Still stuck?

If your question is not here, get in touch. We would rather answer it before you order than after.
